JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Maintains computerized patient appointment schedule. Educates patients and physicians' office staff when testing requires special preparation. 2. Assembles, disassembles and maintains patient medical records in an accurate manner. 3. Answers telephone, screens calls, provides information as appropriate and/or takes and relays messages. Arranges meetings as necessary. 4. Collects and organizes data (from division logs and other services) for statistical, quality assurance, regulating and research purposes. 5. Opens, sorts and processes all incoming and outgoing mail. Assists physicians with responding to information inquiries, patient requests and medical record copies. 6. Prepares correspondence for patients and physicians when required. 7. Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of office supplies and forms for department use. 8. Types various reports, minutes and departmental records.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school graduate. One to two years of medical secretarial experience, with medical terminology and health care experience and transcription experience preferred. 2. Verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with members of the allied health disciplines, patients, and patients' families. 3. Works accurately under stress.
