1. Performs routine patient transport between nursing units, diagnostic areas, doctors' suites, morgue, and other areas of the hospital. 2. Performs transport of blood and other specimens on both a Stat and routine basis. 3. Delivers patient equipment, various supply items, audiovisual equipment, and exchanges various gas tanks. 4. Assists in sorting, routing, and distribution of incoming United States Postal Service mail, packages, and interdepartmental mail. 5. Assists in processing of outgoing U. S. Postal Service, Federal Express, and mailing company, letters, and packages for shipment. Packs, seals, weighs, and prepares paperwork. 6. Performs other Transport Service functions as required. Performs other Materials Management functions including materials distribution, as needed. 7. Receives direction from Transport Supervisor or designee.
1. Read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to read, understand English, and have basic arithmetic skills normally acquired through the completion of high school or G.E.D. equivalency. 2. Good interpersonal and communication skills. 3. Capable of routine heavy lifting, pushing, bending, carrying, and walking constantly.
