I.T. Data Base Administrator

Description:

Summary:
Perform general database administration tasks including, but not limited to: design, develop and maintain company databases, analyze the inter-relationship of data usage and define the physical data structures and logical views of data elements. Minimize data redundancy and ensure data integrity and security. Design, code, and implement all schemas. Provide technical support and consultation regarding database programming and interaction. Install new software version, patches, and upgrades. Monitor performance, analyze and track space utilization, establish backup procedures and provide recovery of data.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide design, maintenance, and system support for company Microsoft SQL DB applications.
  • Perform traditional database administration duties including, but not limited to, software installation, database creation, database maintenance, capacity planning, tuning, backup, and business continuity planning for multiple high-availability databases.
  • Support, prioritize, and troubleshoot database, operating system, application and hardware issues.
  • Diagnose problems and implement corrective actions related to database management and associated applications.
  • Advanced technical and hands-on experience performing the following procedures: joining local and remote tables, developing stored procedures, handling errors in a stored procedure, processing data using cursors, writing triggers to carry out advanced validation, improving performance with indexes and views.
  • Create, maintain and modify simple to complex reports.
  • Review, analyze and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs as stipulated by company requirements.
  • Maintain familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Create, test and maintain documentation, including diagrams and schemas, of applications, including standards and procedures for operational and technical purposes.
  • Familiar with storage area networks (SAN) and designing configuration of production class database servers and database disk requirements.
  • Ability to create database implementation project plans and identify critical path and resolved issues related to such.
  • Provide progress reports to senior IT management as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in the I.T. field within the gaming and/or hospitality industry preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of database security, design, maintenance, and development best practices
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with MS-SQL platform. Other databases experience helpful including IBM DB2, MS-Access
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements regarding access control and change management
  • Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and equipment
  • Skill in planning and preparing written communication
  • Skill in effectively serving a divergent customer base
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management
  • Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must have reliable communication (i.e. cell phone, pager) readily available when not at work in case company needs to reach out during non-schedule work hours
