JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB SUMMARY:  With or without general supervision, perform journey level work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for potable water, sanitary and storm sewer, natural gas, fire suppression systems and refrigeration related plumbing systems as required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED:  This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. It does not imply that all positions within the class perform all of the duties listed, nor does it necessarily list all possible duties that may be assigned.

  1. Maintain, repair and install plumbing fixtures and components.
  2. Repair piping systems of various sizes and materials.
  3. Check safety equipment and replace components such as washers, gaskets, diaphragms and filters.
  4. Inspect, repair and/or replace pumps, valves, faucets and auto-flush valves.
  5. Inspect and test fire sprinkler system and prepare documentation for compliance.
  6. Clear waste drains, traps and sumps as needed.
  7. Monitor work performed by outside contractors for adherence to Uniform Plumbing Code requirements and report findings to supervisor.
  8. Assist in writing specifications for repairs and new construction projects.
  9. Research, procure and maintain an inventory of plumbing equipment and parts.
  10. Assist other crafts as required or assigned.
  11. Maintain an inventory of equipment and materials necessary to ensure a timely response to most routine work requests.
  12. Makes judgment calls based on the understanding of Legends Casino’s purpose, values and objectives while utilizing research, knowledge and experience. 
  13. Executes the policies, procedures, protocols and controls that govern the Facilities Department.
  14. Builds relationships inside and outside their department/team to improve ways of working and providing a great guest experience.
  15. Acts as a mentor to their peers and considers the success of their fellow team members as their own success.
  16. Takes personal responsibility for their performance and constantly strives to improve.
  17. Continues to develop skills so that they can contribute at a higher level.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION EXCERCISED:  None.

 

LICENSE REQUIRED:  Must obtain and hold a Class II gaming license while employed and complete an annual background check with TGA.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Journeyman plumber’s license with at least 2 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  Equivalent vocational/technical training certificate and/or military, industrial or commercial experience may also be considered.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:  Vocational school certificate or college degree.  Journeyman plumber’s license with at least 2 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  Specialty certification or licenses in any of following areas: Natural Gas Fitting, Backflow Assembly Testing, Cross-Connection Control, Fire Standpipe Testing or other.  Journey level status in a second trade.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  The candidate must have the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Work above ceilings from a ladder.  Safely operate power and hand tools and equipment common to the piping trades.  Work safely in bio-hazardous environments by selecting and using proper personal protective equipment. Work for long periods of time in uncomfortable environments including wet, hot, cold or windy conditions. Recognize and correctly interpret common safety warning signs.  Communicate effectively in the English language.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE FOR POSITION: 

The candidate must have the knowledge and ability to:

  1. Read and interpret building blueprints.
  2. Create isometric sketches of piping systems.
  3. Apply basic trade mathematics to calculate take-offs for piping systems.
  4. Correctly specify fixtures and fittings for supply and waste plumbing systems.
  5. Use a computer to perform online research for the specification and procurement of plumbing fittings and equipment and communicate with supervisor and others using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook and Word.
