JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB SUMMARY:  With or without general supervision: Performs journey level work on the Casino’s electrical systems.  Directs the work of the Journeyman and Apprentice Electrician.  Repairs and installs all types of electrical equipment including light switches, flex and rigid conduit, breakers, electrical panels, ballasts and receptacles.  Maintains accurate drawings of all electrical wiring runs and panels.  Sets up temporary power services for special events.  Acts as lead in coordinating multi-craft projects.   Procures materials and maintains records of project costs and provides progress reports as required to the Facilities Manager.  Operates and maintains high voltage switchgear and controls.  Repairs and maintains motor control centers, variable frequency drives and uninterruptible power supply equipment.  Maintains tools, equipment and material stocks.  Completes other reports and records as assigned including vehicles reports, accident/safety reports and performance evaluations.  Operates construction equipment including forklifts and manlifts as required.  Trains apprentices to accepted trade standards.  Assists other crafts as assigned.  Shift will include 24-hour call and weekend work.

  1. Ensure and maintain compliance with all ordinances, laws and other communicated expectations including but not limited to: NIGC Regulations, Yakama Gaming Ordinance, State Gaming Compact, Tribal Internal Controls and other communications from regulatory personnel.
  2. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Electrical Shop.
  3. Interprets blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
  4. Diagnoses and resolves problems independently.
  5. Ensures safety of all team members and guests by enforcing all safety rules and procedures.
  6. Tests electrical circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
  7. Splices, joins and connects wires to form circuits.
  8. Positions, installs and maintains distribution and control equipment such as circuit breaker panel boards, light zone boards, fuse enclosures, switch boxes, pull boxes and related devices.
  9. Assembles, installs, repairs, maintains and tests electrical fixtures, control equipment and wiring for fire alarms, communications, light, heat and power systems.
  10. Pulls wire through conduits and openings in walls, floors and ceilings.
  11. Cuts, threads, bends, assembles and installs conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
  12. Maintain an inventory of equipment and materials necessary to ensure a timely response to most routine work requests.
  13. Makes judgment calls based on the understanding of Legends Casino’s purpose, values and objectives while utilizing research, knowledge and experience. 
  14. Executes the policies, procedures, protocols and controls that govern the Facilities Department.
  15. Builds relationships inside and outside their department/team to improve ways of working and providing a great guest experience.
  16. Acts as a mentor to their peers and considers the success of their fellow team members as their own success.
  17. Takes personal responsibility for their performance and constantly strives to improve.
  18. Continues to develop skills so that they can contribute at a higher level.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION EXCERCISED:  Electrician Journeyman and Electrician Apprentice Trainee.

 

LICENSE REQUIRED:  Must obtain and hold a Class III gaming license while employed and complete an annual background check with TGA.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:  High School Diploma or GED required.  Journeyman level electrician status OR seven (7) years of electrical experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience required.  High voltage certification and experience required.  Must be experienced in the installation, operation, repair and maintenance of industrial electrical systems and equipment and the application of common electrical safety procedures. 

 

PREFERED EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:  Current Washington State Administrator or Master Electrician certificate or certification as Electrical Inspector or completion of 60 credit hour Electrical Trades certificate program.  Second related journeyman license or equivalent industrial or commercial experience.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  The candidate must have the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs., work above ceilings from a ladder and safely operate power and hand tools and equipment common to the electrical trade, recognize and correctly interpret common safety warning signs and communicate effectively in the English language.  Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring. Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits. Candidate may be called upon to work for long periods of time in uncomfortable environments including wet, hot, cold or windy conditions.  Must be able to tolerate working in a smoking environment.
