JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB SUMMARY:  With or without general supervision: perform a variety of generalized public building maintenance tasks including work in non-specialized areas of the Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Grounds Maintenance and Painting trades.  Procures materials and maintains records of project costs and provides progress reports as required to the Facilities Manager.  Maintains tools, equipment and material stocks.  Completes other reports and records as assigned including vehicle reports and accident/safety reports.  Operates construction equipment including forklifts and manlifts as assigned.  Assists other crafts as assigned.  Shift will include 24-hour call and weekend work. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES PERFORMED:  This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.   1. Keeps equipment, systems, buildings and grounds ready for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules; restoring and repairing faulty or inoperative equipment and recommending changes and new installations.
  2. Closely monitors facility systems and equipment, making adjustments and repairs as necessary.
  3. Performs all types of construction work including carpentry, concrete, plumbing and electrical work to complete construction projects.
  4. Installs wood and metal stud frames, doors and jams. 
  5. Accomplishes a variety of finish carpentry work including the trimming of doors, panels and windows.
  6. Finishes surfaces and joints with sandpaper, scrappers and sanders. 
  7. Attaches hinges, catches, and locks.
  8. Quickly define problems, analyze relevant information and develop solutions.
  9. Works with other trades personnel in the design and fabrication of parts or assemblies as needed.
  10. Maintains an inventory of equipment and materials necessary to ensure a timely response to most routine work requests.
  11. Makes judgment calls based on the understanding of Legends Casino’s purpose, values and objectives while utilizing research, knowledge and experience. 
  12. Executes the policies, procedures, protocols and controls that govern the Facilities Department.
  13. Builds relationships inside and outside their department/team to improve ways of working and providing a great guest experience.
  14. Acts as a mentor to their peers and considers the success of their fellow team members as their own success.
  15. Takes personal responsibility for their performance and constantly strives to improve.
  16. Continues to develop skills so that they can contribute at a higher level.
  17. Models for the team, a strong work ethic and is visible, available and present for the guest and their team.
  18. Identifies ways to improve workflows and processes to work smarter and increase efficiency.
  19. Seeks to share and improve processes and workflows based on guest feedback.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MINUMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:  High School Diploma or GED required.  Must have a minimum of four years experience in public building maintenance and operation.  Journeyman level in one or more building trades a plus.

 

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:  The candidate must have the ability to: lift and carry 50 lbs., work above ceilings from a ladder and safely operate power and hand tools and equipment common to the building maintenance trades, recognize and correctly interpret common safety warning signs and communicate effectively in the English language.  Candidate may be called upon to work for long periods of time in uncomfortable environments including wet, hot, cold or windy conditions. Candidate must be able to tolerate working in a smoking environment.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION: 

Candidate will possess a broad level of building maintenance knowledge including, but not limited to, the Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Grounds, Carpentry and Painting trades.  Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools common to all building maintenance trades.  Must be able to troubleshoot equipment using a schematic, wiring diagram or technical manual.   Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  Must be able to work any shift in a 24 hour schedule including holidays and weekends. Previous chemical spraying and swimming pool maintenance experience preferred.
