Job Title:   Corporate & Golf Retail Merchandiser

Responsible for the management and procurement of all merchandise programs for Westfield Group Country Club in addition to coordination and collaboration with the Westfield Wares company store.  Develops effective merchandise plans that meet member, guest, and client needs while meeting company goals and financial objectives.  Provides customer service support for the golf shop operation and works closely with the Golf Professionals and Westfield Wares leaders.  The Merchandiser collaborates with Event Planners, Corporate Hosts and other stakeholders to coordinate gifting fulfilment for all corporate activities and events. Remains current and familiar with industry trends and competitive market analysis.  This position is accountable for supporting and maintaining a highly engaged work environment and is responsible for maintaining Westfield quality and ethical standards set by the Westfield Group.
Essential Functions(primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)
  1. Oversees merchandise management and standard operating procedures for Westfield Country Club Golf Shop and Westfield Wares company store.
  2. Coordinates corporate and special retail gifting programs including idea generation, sampling, purchasing, personalization, displays and guest distribution.  Oversees all Special Order procedures.
  3. Collaborates with Golf Professionals and Westfield Wares leaders in identifying and creating merchandise and marketing strategies, buying plans, and budgets, including annual sales, expense, turnover ratios, and inventory targets. 
  4. Purchases all hard and soft goods, club fitting, and accessories for the golf shop and Westfield Wares.   Manages priorities and workload distribution, and removes barriers that impede progress.
  5. Conduct all facets of the merchandising process including receiving, pricing, creating visual displays and maintaining an attractive, organized and orderly shop and storage area consistent with the Club and Hospitality motif. 
  6. Create standard operating procedures for counting inventory and maintain proper inventory levels.  Monitor and manage the availability of stock by ensuring planned launch and replenishment dates are met.
  7. Performs operational responsibilities in a supportive role for the golf shop operation that drive team performance includes but is not limited to answering phones, registering players for club events, making tee times, planning, execution, process improvement and best-practice sharing.
  8. Maintains strong business & employee relationships by visiting with vendors, hospitality leaders, event planners, key stakeholders, and members; answering their questions; responding to special requests; describing product features and options.
  9. Enhances merchandising and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 
Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education(in order of importance)
  1. Service oriented with an outgoing personality.  Must be highly organized, reliable, dependable, and have the ability to work independently.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency as an effective communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  3. A minimum of three years of retail experience at a private club or similar environment in a buying capacity. 
  4. Associate degree or higher in merchandising, fashion or related field orcommensurate experience
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of forecasting, buying, inventory control/counting, and effective supply chain management.
  6. Proven ability to operate computer equipment and software programs, specifically Point of Sale system, property management system and Microsoft Office software (Publisher, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  7. Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
  8. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record that conforms to company standards.

  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
