Renewal Underwriter Wholesale Brokerage (Commercial Lines) – Columbus, OH

Description:Responsible for all renewals as assigned.  The job requires review of all renewal materials.  All MGA accounts must be underwritten and all other accounts must be submitted to appropriate carrier.  Remarketing will be necessary in some cases.  The job will also require cross-selling on current accounts. Works as a liaison between the agents and the carriers on product coverage and eligibility issues.
Desired Qualifications and Physical Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years Commercial Lines Property & Casualty experience.
  • Valid Property-Casualty agent license.
  • Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
 Job Duties (not an all inclusive list):
  1. Provides quality customer service to producing agents in the day-to-day servicing of renewal business including answering calls, correspondence, processing policy changes, providing quotes, etc.
  2. Reviews incoming renewal information and determine whether re-marketing is necessary
  3. Manages renewal business by working assigned renewals 90-120 days prior to expiration date.
  4. Binds and invoices business on a timely basis.
  5. Maintains customer service standards as defined in Specialty Brokerage Services’ procedure manual.
  6. Correct documentation maintained in our Agency Management system.
  7. Tracks retention ratios and production results for the renewal book and provides reports to management.
  8. Cross-sells additional coverage lines on the existing renewal book
  9. (*) Performs other functions as assigned to support operations.
