JOB DESCRIPTION:
SUMMARY:                    Responsible for reviewing and monitoring fraud/anti-money laundering (FR/AML) alerts identified by Verafin software application. Use analytical skills to identify high risk activity and use defined research procedures to uncover potential fraud losses to the bank. Situations encountered typically require more detailed analysis and independent thinking. Use communication skills to report incidents via the proper channels and work with others to resolve and document reported cases. Knowledge of internal controls surrounding bank operations process is important.
                                     
A.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Listed in order of importance, frequency or sequence, 1=most important/frequent, etc.). NOTE:  Indicate non-essential accountabilities with an asterisk*.  All other functions are “absolutely necessary for this job”.
 
  1. Assists with the analysis of suspicious transactions identified by Verafin software application and FR/AML alert reviews.  Decisions and manages alerts and cases in accordance with defined Tier 1 procedures. 
  2. Assists with monitoring risk ratings for each customer in the Verafin system and identifying high risk activity to uncover potential fraud losses.
  3. Assists with conducting suspicious activity (SAR) investigations in accordance with defined Tier 2 procedures.
  4. Assists with the review and filing of currency transaction reports (CTRs).
  5. Assists with cash and security audits conducted for all branch office locations.
  6. Assists with auditing/testing internal controls that require ongoing assessment and monitoring.
  7. Assists with monitoring internal control exceptions and preparing status reports on exception resolution.
  8. Maintains awareness, understanding and compliance with the Bank’s internal policies and procedures, laws and regulations appropriate for the position.
  9.  Provides assistance in response to regulatory and internal/external audit requests.
  10. Maintains and continuously expands knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations and industry best practices through ongoing education and training.
  11.  Maintains awareness, understanding and compliance with the Bank's internal policies and procedures, laws and regulations appropriate for this position.
  12.  Provides assistance in response to regulatory and internal/external audit requests.
  13. (*) Performs other functions as assigned to support risk management activities.
  
B.  JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
 
  • 2 years of relevant business experience, preferably in banking
  • High school diploma, GED or demonstrated commensurate experience
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and solid, analytical problem solving skills
 
C. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to operate various types of computer equipment and software programs including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate via telephone
  • Ability to travel as required.
