8 Hour Day Shift


Position Summary:
Oversees the nutrition/food service operations at specific entities designated by the VP, Nutrition Services.  Provides nutrition consulting services to non-Via-Christi owned or managed senior care ministries.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Completes new and annual nutritional assessments per State and CMS regulations, and per ministry need and policy.  Developing recommendations based upon the nutritional assessments to be implemented in the resident’s care plan. 
  • Completes monthly documentation on residents experiencing weight changes, skin breakdown, abnormal laboratory values, poor food and fluid intake, and those receiving enteral nutrition. 
  • Monitors the implementation of the nutritional care plan for positive outcomes and making changes as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Performs semi-annual inspections of the ministry Nutrition Services department reviewing the areas of sanitation, food preparation and holding, food quality and presentation, and meal service. 
  • Creates and approves menus semi-annually.
  • Monitors and audits procedures for compliance regarding state and federal regulations and VCV policies.  .
  • Promotes the professional and technical knowledge of the ministry Nutrition Services Leadership and staff by conducting educational workshops and in-service training programs.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Management Responsibilities:


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Dietetics or similar field. 
  • Minimum three years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian. 
  • Preferred background in geriatrics.

            Technical Skills

  • Possess proficient assessment skills related to the nutritional needs of geriatric residents. 
  • Possess working knowledge of State and Federal regulations. 
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Registered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. 
  • Licensed through the State, if applicable.

  • Frequently required to carry or lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds for short distances.  Required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift objects over 25 pounds.

  • Frequently required to sit in a stationary position.
  • Occasionally performs activities that require stooping, bending and reaching, squatting, balancing, and trunk twisting throughout the day.
  • Constantly able to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as phone calls and customer questions.
  • Constantly able to use hands and fingers to type, write, and file.
  • Frequently able to use near vision for viewing computer monitor and written materials.
  • Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues.
