8 Hour Day Shift
Office/Secretarial/Clerical Support


Schedule: Tues, Wed, Thurs: 8a-5p

Position Summary:
Performs business office functions.  Responsible for registration and scheduling of new and existing patients, insurance verification, data collection, and processing and maintenance of medical and patient financial records. Participates in performance improvement and financial activities as appropriate. 
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Registers and schedules new and existing out patients                                                   
  • Verifies coverage and communicates patient insurance information                               
  • Processes and maintains medical and patient financial records                                       
  • Processes outpatient charges and verifies accuracy, making corrections as needed        
  • Distributes information (including mail) throughout departments as requested             
  • Outcomes data collection                                                            
  • Collaborates with other staff to meet the needs of the patients and facility                   
  • Participates in performance improvement activities as needed                                       
  • Effectively communicates with other team members in order to coordinate patient care.                                                                
  • Maintains annual competencies.                                                              
  • Demonstrates and promotes being a good team member as displayed by flexibility, willingness to assist in different departmental service areas, and showing respect and cooperation with all departments and individuals                                               
  • May perform other duties as assigned or requested 


Education and/or Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent.  Business courses and/or two years of college preferred. 
  • Three years of secretarial experience or equivalent is preferred.

  • Computer skills with specific abilities in word processing and/or spreadsheet applications.

  • Frequently required to carry or lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds for short distances.

  • Occasionally performs activities that require stooping, bending and reaching, squatting, balancing, and trunk twisting throughout the day.
  • Constantly able to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as phone calls and customer questions.
  • Constantly able to use hands and fingers to type, write, and file.
  • Frequently able to use near vision for viewing computer monitor and written materials.
  • Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues.

Working Conditions:

  • No intentional exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Works in well lighted and ventilated area.  May be exposed to patients with communicable disease.  Hazardous materials inventory and MSDS available in department.
