Via Christi Health's rich history of serving the people of Kansas and the surrounding region dates back more than 100 years to the healing ministries of our founding congregations. Today, Via Christi Health is the largest provider of health care services in Kansas. We serve Kansas and northeast Oklahoma through our doctors, hospitals, senior villages and health services.
Serves customer in a retail area maintaining a clean, well stocked servery.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Using optimal customer relations, sets up, presents, serves, and records (via cash registers, etc.) food for customers.
Sets up and attractively presents cafeteria foods.
Initiates customer relations in a friendly and efficient manner.
Follows all department policies and procedures, local health department food codes and area cleaning schedules.
Maintains knowledge about food served in cafeteria.
Sets up menu boards and appropriate signage.
Handles cash accurately.
Restocks supplies, and assists in grilling, frying, and cleaning duties.
Participates in cross-training and team performance activities.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or Education Certificate preferred.
Required to be at least 16 years of age.
Prefer three to six months retail food experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to efficiently operate cash register as well as all other equipment in area.

Current Food Handlers Card required at Via Christi Hospitals-Wichita only.

Occasionally performs activities that require climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching with hands and arms throughout the day.
Frequently uses hands and fingers to prepare food items and to operate kitchen equipment.
Constantly able to communicate verbally and in written form.
Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as customer voices and phone calls/paging.
Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.
Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate spoilage or environmental issues.
