JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs of trucks, refrigeration and air conditioning units. Conduct general and non-scheduled maintenance, including inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing components and systems.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Diagnose complex mechanical, refrigerant, and electrical problems related to all Reefer systems (single & multi-temp), including engine, cooling, heating and on board computer modules.


  • Perform repairs and diagnostics on starting and charging system, complex cooling and re-charge, and electrical including common fault codes. Repairs include performing leak detection procedures, compressor replacements, rebuilding throttling valves, soldering refrigerant lines, evaporator/condenser replacements and front main engine seal replacements.


  • Perform repair and maintenance on trailers including auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.


  • Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs.


  • Must be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving problems.


  • Maintain a customer base, schedule own work load and handle road assistance calls.  Ability to work in night and weekend rotation for service calls.


  • Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost effective manner.


  • Ability to work on an USX site or USX customer location site while performing the essential functions of this position.


  • Other duties as assigned by management.


 

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE



  • Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma


  • Successfully attended a refrigeration or air conditioning Service Training School with score of 85% or better


  • Refrigeration Universal 608/609 certification           required


  • Training certifications in the Heavy Duty Truck Trailer repair business and/or the automotive repair business required.


  • Must be able to read, interpret and follow refrigeration and electrical schematics.


  • Valid driver’s license required


  • Basic computer skills preferred


  • Ability to read and write


  • Must provide and use basic hand and air tools to complete the desired repair tasks
