Corporate Asset Manager

Summary

The Asset Manager’s primary purpose is to evaluate, develop, implement and maintain plans and programs for maximum utilization of equipment and resources in coordination with the operations group regarding truck/trailer utilization.  The position oversees a team who directly partners with other stakeholders on issues regarding equipment and financial matters related to the sale and purchase of equipment. 

Duties & Responsibilities

·  Oversees the trailer and tractor trade process with specific business units (e.g. fleet operations, dedicated operations, maintenance, etc.); must maintain an active equipment database for all trucks and trailers.

o Aggressively works to reduce the time line related to the trade process and keeps all stakeholders (i.e. Operations, Maintenance, Terminals, etc.) abreast of current trades and other key measurements to assist in the effective utilize of equipment.

o Ensures adequate truck utilization as to miles and months, depending on the trade terms.

o Coordinates with trade vendors as necessary.

· Manage workflow mapping and evaluation to foster continuous improvement of processes

· Assist in the development and maintenance of equipment needs forecasting

· Manages all invoicing, collection and reporting on equipment sales.

· Manages preparation and distribution of specific reports to key stakeholders

oUtilization reports, asset management (related to trucks/trailers), trade program updates, etc.

· Partners with stakeholders in financial matters related to the trade process and new equipment purchases.

· Oversees the lease program and rental equipment.

Qualifications

Education

·  Bachelor degree in business, financial/accounting or related field required. Equivalent experience will be considered. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.

Experience

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing corporate assets; prefer experience within the transportation industry managing truck/trailer utilization and asset management.

· Direct experience in a leadership capacity preferred.

Skills/Certifications

  • Strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; especially Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment: This job operates in a normal professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines, and filing cabinets.
