The Patient Financial Advocate is responsible for contacting patient or responsible party to notify them of their financial responsibility in a timely and professional manner. The PFA will assess patient or responsible party’s ability to pay for services, collect payment and/or arrange approved methods of payment. Works closely with physician staff to identify funding sources and resolve any confusion the patient may have about their financial obligations to the facility. The PFA will have complete understanding of USPI’s SurgiCARES program and will work closely with Business Office team and Manager to ensure facility follows program protocol. PFA will also perform other duties as needed by Business Office Manager or CFO.

Education and/or experience:
High School education and/or equivalent
Two years of customer service experience.
One year experience patient financial counseling, insurance verification or collections in a hospital business office.
Strong interpersonal skill, with ability to work effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
Proficient in English, written and verbal; excellent communication skills
Good organizational skills and the ability to follow through on assigned projects.
