Job Description Summary:
The EHR Director is responsible for day-to-day oversight through all phases of implementation and post live system maintenance. The EHR Director will report to the VP of Clinical Systems and be expected to provide guidance and support of EHR team members to monitor job performance, promote growth and professional development. Developing and improving the potential and capability of the team in technical and problem solving capability to meet and respond to any system development and maintenance needs. The EHR Director will be responsible for keeping close communication and alignment with the project priorities and post live support needs by communicating any resource constrains and technical challenges and difficulties. The EHR Director will need to apply their skills in a variety of areas including, but not limited to application development, integration, business analysis, requirements definition, building test plans, coordinating resources and stakeholders, setting deadlines, and monitoring, summarizing and communicating the progress of all implementation tasks and post implementation needs. The EHR Director will facilitate communication and collaboration among USPI resources, Cerner resources, hospital leadership and staff, and physicians.
Executing implementation activities, monitor progress, update project documents, monitor project metrics, update leadership and report issues and status
Monitor and help maintain the quality of the EHR solution to ensure that it meets technical, workflow and process needs in a surgical environment
Management of the EHR Team members, providing evaluations, developing career paths, mentoring and providing profession development
Assist in development of required policies and competencies for the EHR
Identifying time requirements and managing resources in a simultaneous implementation and post implementation environment
Monitor financial objectives and work within budget
Monitoring meaningful use metrics, timing, and required submission
Defining system maintenance and working collaboratively with all departments
Maintaining an effective super user network
Be able to communicate the features and benefits of the EHR technology and processes being implemented
A Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university
At least 4 years’ experience with an EHR, preferably Cerner
Strong technology skills and understanding of database structure
At least 4 years’ experience working with hospital information systems
Working knowledge of hospital billing systems
Working knowledge of surgical processes and workflow
Proven ability to lead, manage and mentor
Proven ability to work collaboratively, efficiently, and respectfully with all to promote teamwork and a positive, productive work environment
Ability to prioritize effectively, handle shifting priorities professionally and efficiently, and follow through
Ability to recognize and escalate situations as deemed necessary
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and uphold confidentiality
Commitment to quality and customer service

You must work with all departments, vendors and project team to implement and maintain a high quality, process driven solution that meets the process and technology requirements for USPI Surgical Hospitals.
