JOB DESCRIPTION:
General Purpose:Provide expertise to acquire, manage, manipulate, and analyze data and report results on clinical data stored in physician practice EMR systems. Assist practices with compliance as needed and report quality information back to MHIE.

Responsibilities:

Daily Operations:

·         Meet with MHIE participating physician practices and determine their status of quality reporting
·         Identify barriers or challenges to their participation and determine the best way to assist them with these challenges
·         Educate physicians and their staff about MHIE and its reporting requirements  
·         Analyze and problem solve issues with current and planned systems as they relate to the integration and management of patient data (for example, review for accuracy in record merge, unmerge processes)
·         Ensure that technology is capable of reporting required data and that it is certified by the ONC for Meaningful Use participation as applicable
·         Assist practices with reporting clinical data as required by MHIE to include:
o   Running reports in practice EMRs to determine current compliance with data standards
o   Educating physicians and staff on MHIE, PQRS measures and Meaningful Use requirements
o   Designing workflows to achieve compliance
o   Following up with practices to measure progress and address any issues
·         Monitor for timely and accurate completion of select data elements
·         Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
·         Communicate all relevant findings to MHIE and USPI

Data Capture:

·         Acquire and abstract primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources
·         In collaboration with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
·         Assist with quality reporting in various PM/EMR systems used at relevant physician practices

Data Reporting:

·         In collaboration with others, interpret data and develop recommendations based on findings
·         Develop graphs, reports, and presentations of project results
·         Perform basic statistical analyses for projects and reports
·         Create and present quality dashboards
·         Generate routine and ad hoc reports 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Skills:

·         Solid understanding of PQRS and Meaningful Use Requirements
·         Comfortable with clinical use and report generation in a variety of PM and EMR systems
·         Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
·         Knowledge of basic statistics for assessment of clinical data and compliance  
·         Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
·         Comfortable with communicating with physicians and support staff about clinical data and workflows

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Healthcare Information, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
·         Healthcare background or experience
·         Previous experience with EMR systems and reporting (especially with eCW and Cerner)
