JOB TITLE: Business Office Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Surgery Center JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Registration and Medical Records and assists the Business Office Manager with the day to day operations of the business office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ·
Knows, adheres to, and enforces all policies of the business office
Assist business office manager with supervising of business office employees and processes
Responsible for the hiring, orientation, performance reviews and training of registration and medical records staff
Responsible for thorough working knowledge of accounts receivable system including maintenance of the managed care contracts
Reconciles the cash receipts to the deposit log
Informs business office manager of applicable day-to-day situations
Supervise all medical records activities of the center in a manner consistent with the clinical needs of the center
Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment
Assist business manager with overall strategic planning of the business office
Assist the Business Office Manager to develop and maintain policies & procedures and systems to minimize DSO and the rate of bad debt and increase the productivity of related operations
Perform other activities as requested by the business manager, and assume other appropriate operational responsibilities as necessary
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Limited to essential duties listed above. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Participate in USPI EDGE program. · Perform other activities as requested by the Business Office Manager. · Assume appropriate operational responsibilities as necessary. OTHER: Problem solving and decision making, communication, organizational, and management skills limited to specific accountabilities of the position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a high school graduate. A bachelor’s degree preferred. 1-2 years supervisory experience in a medical setting such as a hospital, physician’s office, or surgery center preferred. Experience working with physicians is desirable. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Prefer experience in accounts payable and receivable.
