Senior Systems Engineer - Network



Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
  1. Ensures enterprise network services availability by implementing, maintaining and monitoring performance, resolving complex network infrastructure, IP telephony, digital media, and network security technologies, and providing data backup and recovery services to comply with disaster recovery plan. - 40%
  2. Ensures systems security by designing and implementing complex network security models, advanced enterprise monitoring solutions, comprehensive disaster recovery, event correlation and log management, performing security audits, reporting findings, expert level troubleshooting, debugging crash dumps, and performing root cause analysis. - 30%
  3. Maintains business services availability by enforcing change management processes and other policies and procedures, supporting third-party networking, documenting installations, changes, and upgrades, training IT personnel to support business functionality, and providing advanced networking technical support of business applications. - 30%

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Proficiency of Cisco network design, installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operation
    • Proficiency in Cisco routing, switches, Unified Communications, Wireless, Unified Communications, Digital Media,
    • Proficiency in Cisco security solutions including ASA, FWSM, IPS, VPN, MARS, and Ironport appliances
    • Proficiency in routing protocols (OSPF, RIP, IS-IS, and BGP), network virtualization (VRF, MPLS) and Ethernet standards
    • Proficiency in Cisco Operating Systems: IOS, CatOS, AsyncOS, ASDM, and Aironet
    • Proficiency in IP protocols and OSI model
    • Proficiency in tracking significant problems, monitoring performance, optimizing performance, and performing upgrades to hardware and software as required in a Cisco environment
    • Proficiency in network traffic analysis
    • Expert working knowledge of Cisco hardware models
    • Expert working knowledge of enterprise network operations
    • Ability to function in a project methodology oriented environment
    • Ability to provide training and support for users with varying degrees of IT knowledge
    • Ability to serve as a coach and mentor for PC/LAN Technician staff
    • Ability to communicate problems and resolutions effectively and professionally to non-IT personnel

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise Server class operating systems and applications, including Microsoft Windows Server 200x, Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, ISA, and IIS
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Clustering technology
    • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, such as VMWare and Hyper-V
    • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP and WINS administration
    • Working knowledge of server optimization, monitoring techniques and tools
    • Working knowledge of Windows and virtualization Disaster Recovery Planning implementation and support
    • Working knowledge of enterprise malware protection software
    • Working knowledge of advanced PC, application and network troubleshooting methods
    • Working knowledge of installing and maintaining network and telecom cabling
    • Working knowledge of datacenter cabling practices including power, cooling, rack cable management

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10 years experience in network engineering
  • 7 years experience network architecture design
  • 7 years experience in network virtualization
  • 7 years experience in network security design, implementation, and operation


  • IT experience in a Casino or gaming environment
  • MCSE & MCITP Certification
  • VMware VCAP Certified
  • Certification in recognized SAN technology
