Job Title:   Communications Manager

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
  1. Ensures effective internal communication by meeting with department directors, managers and functional managers, reviewing current mediums of communication, developing improvement plans, and collaborating with department directors to implement approved communication programs. - 40%
  2. Ensures effective external communication by developing and recommending media strategies, objectives and plans to strengthen company image, collaborating with the Assistant Tribal Manager, General Manager, Director of Marketing, and Community Development Manager to implement approved communication plans and programs, and maintaining an updated active media database. - 40%
  3. Standardizes company communications and materials by writing and editing copy for various marketing materials, press releases, fact sheets, e-mail blasts, and monthly employee newsletters, designing company stationary, business cards and memo, note, and e-mail templates, and providing editorial and style assistance to the Creative Services Department for the Sycuan website. - 20%

  • Ability to create and execute plans and programs
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound business recommendations

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, and Excel
  • Ability to complete forms, documents and written reports

  • Ability to appear for work on time
  • Graphic/web editing software experience
  • Multi-lingual

Job Specifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years public relations, publicity or communications experience for a large organization in a key communications management position
  • Media and /or public relations experience (preferably in the San Diego market)
  • Experience working for a large organization (1000+ team members)
  • Experience with social media engagement
  • Tribal gaming marketing experience
