Job Title:   Human Resources Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)

1. Recruits qualified candidates for assigned departments by receiving department recruitment requests, maintaining approved open positions list on the shared drive, opening and closing positions in the applicant tracking database, composing employment advertisements for review and approval, screening applications for open positions, marking applications for review by appropriate manager in applicant tracking database, determining manager availability to conduct interviews and forwarding information to Employment Coordinator, receiving final candidate selection from manager or Employment Coordinator, reviewing reference checks conducted by the service provider or Employment Coordinators, reviewing questionable references with hiring manager, and making hiring recommendations. - 25%
2. Ensures candidates successfully complete employment prerequisites by monitoring and documenting completion of employment prerequisites, contacting candidates to make final job offer, contacting candidates who fail to complete prerequisites to rescind conditional job offer, coordinating new hire or transferring team member start date with manager and team member, and providing Employment Coordinator with all necessary new hire paperwork. - 25%
3. Ensures paperwork is accurate and in compliance with legal requirements and company policy by advising managers and supervisors on proper and legal application of Human Resources policies and procedures, reviewing performance appraisals and progressive discipline documents for proper completion and initiating corrective action as needed, reviewing termination paperwork for content, clarity and compliance, and providing guidance and direction to Managers on effective use of language in written documents. - 25%
4. Conducts exit interview process by scheduling appointments with exiting team members, providing benefit conversion information, explaining exit survey process, providing team member with grievance procedure when appropriate, retrieving uniforms and other company property, providing final paycheck and uniform deposit, and consulting with Employment Manager on difficult team member exiting issues as needed. - 15%
5. Maintains HRIS database by reviewing Self Service transaction submissions and initiating corrective action as needed, entering team member new hire and transfer transaction data in HRIS, generating reports and auditing entries, identifying and researching errors, and making corrections as needed. - 10%

Education and Experience
:

Essential:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Human Resources Certificate from established University or equivalent experience
• 2 years human resources generalist experience
• Data entry experience

Desirable:

• Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
• Guest service experience
• Gaming experience

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

• Working knowledge and understanding of Federal employment laws
• Working knowledge and understanding of State employment laws
• Ability to apply knowledge and make sound judgments
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse candidate and team member population
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
• Ability to compose, read, and edit written documents in the English language
• Proficiency with database and word processing applications
• Ability to complete forms and documents
• Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
