Job Title:   Social Media Specialist

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains effective and creative use of social media by identifying new on-line/social media outlets, cultivating new on-line communities, interacting via posts in real time with players and fans in branded on-line communities, and monitoring sites to ensure on-line brand integrity and messaging consistency across multiple networks. – 30%
  2. Establishes a stylish, creative “digital voice” bywriting and posting professional, clever and witty communications designed for varied on-line audiences, participating in on-line conversations, answering questions, offering solutions, mediating conversations, and creating content for feeds designed to spark discussions and enhance viral distribution of content on various social networking sites. – 30%
  3. Develops on-line communications for internal and external consumption and dissemination by developing, writing, directing and producinga variety of audio/visual demonstrations, presentations and e-newsletters, collaborating with various departments to identify relevant topics and proper messaging, incorporating team member participation when appropriate, collaborating with the Creative Services Department staff on the technical production and editing phases of on-line communication projects, and modifying the company website when requested by the Creative Services Director. - 30%
  4. Identifies interactive marketing growth opportunities by staying up-to-date on the latest trends in interactive marketing, researching blogs and channels for relevancy and trend identification, monitoring the on-line presence and customer perceptions of market competitors, utilizing measurement tools and analysis to identify growth opportunities, evaluating feasibility and return-on-investment of opportunities, and providing analysis and recommendations based on findings to the Advertising Manager. – 10%
Skills and Knowledge:


  • Strong creative writing ability for various audiences on different platforms
  • Ability to identify and analyze data and make sound recommendations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignments
  • Ability to initiate and/or follow verbal directives and written directions
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests, vendors and team members
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Ability to complete forms, documents and written reports
  • Ability to maintain file systems
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to work in a smoking environment
  • Ability to appear for work on time
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel


  • Working knowledge of copy translation procedures
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and other video editing software
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)

Job Specifications:
Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • 3 years of experience in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or related field
  • 1 year of professional experience working with social media to include Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Instagram, Pintrest, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, forums, blogs, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in a professional setting working in public relations, creative writing or related field.


  • Audio/Visual production experience
  • Knowledge of San Diego area/lifestyle
  • Casino and/or hospitality marketing experience
  • Experience with key words and meta tags
