SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Supervises and performs a full range of varied sorting, inspection or production-related tasks as well as administrative duties or any other task in furtherance of the work or goals of Stratosphere Quality and its customer.

 

The Project Supervisor oversees all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.  The Project Supervisor develops processes that will maximize teamwork, safety, quality and productivity of the plant.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, organized, directs and runs the optimum day-to-day operations to exceed site expectations
  • Increases production while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality and safety standards
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping/receiving of all goods
  • Trains and educates Team Leaders and Quality Inspectors on proper SQ procedures relevant to the project
  • Creates work instructions and confirms team conformance to the job set up and communicates any criteria to the Customer Service and/or Training departments
  • Maintains and manages customer relationships throughout each project
  • Identifies and communicates any new business opportunities within assigned plant locations to the Marketing/Sales departments
  • Reports, identifies, investigates and corrects any non-conformances to appropriate departments
  • Partners with Human Resources to document and address progressive discipline issues
  • Coordinates all necessary job specifications and requirements with appropriate Operations and Recruiting teams
  • Completes required training classes
  • All other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct employment interviews and ensure compliance with new hire practices
  • Direct, coach, train and develop team members to meet site specific requirements and corporate strategic goals and safety incentives
  • Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer corrective actions
  • Direct manpower, materials, and work activity to achieve plant output to planned levels and site expectations
  • Manage performance on productivity, quality and safety
  • Manage shift payroll and various submission routes
  • Direct plant operations within SQ safety guidelines for all internal, external customers and contractors
  • Implement and sustain 5S program within the facility
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Collect, validate, record and distribute key plant output information via site SAP system and Solar
  • Collect and analyze data to eliminate waste and overtime
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective results
  • Provide leadership for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage required site-specific programs and facilitate customer visits
  • Set up machines and equipment

 

                                                 Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven work experience as a plant supervisor including experience with management and reconciliation of inventory using site specific methods and systems
  • Familiarity with pallet industry standard equipment and technical expertise in maintaining production processes and facility infrastructure
  • Experience with pallet repair quality standards and auditing regimes
  • Management of site directed logistics, shipping and receiving
  • Knowledge of formal safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and team building processes
  • Experience with hand operated power tools
  • Strong mechanical abilities and knowledge of maintenance programs and facility regulatory requirements.
  • Able and willing to work in production when required to meet targets
  • Able to perform minor maintenance of equipment including compressor, airline dryer, paint system, pneumatic power tools, powered roller conveyor, forklift and building facilities

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in handling customer and employee relations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office, proficiency in Excel
  • Available to work assigned hours based on customer needs
