SPELMAN COLLEGE Tenure -Track Position Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Spelman College seeks teacher/scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching and to the continued enhancement of the scholarly environment for students and colleagues. Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The oldest historically Black college for women in the United States, Spelman is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education. The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Spelman College seeks to fill a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, job code TF0583, beginning August 2014. The ideal candidates will be equally adept at teaching both introductory computer science courses for majors and non-majors as well as upper level advanced computer science theory and application courses. The candidate’s record of advising and mentoring undergraduates in research will also be strongly considered with particular interest in database, networking and security, computer graphics and game design. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science Theory and application courses. Strengths in teaching, research, service and working with undergraduate research are desired.
