SPELMAN COLLEGE Non-Tenure Track Position Instructor / Lecturer of Computer Science Spelman College seeks teacher/scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching and to the continued enhancement of the scholarly environment for students and colleagues. Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The oldest historically Black college for women in the United States, Spelman is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education. The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Spelman College seeks to fill a one-year appointment at the rank of Instructor/Lecturer. The ideal candidate will be equally adept at teaching both introductory computer science courses for majors and non-majors as well as upper level advanced computer science theory and application courses. The candidate’s record of advising and mentoring undergraduates in research will also be strongly considered with particular interest in database, networking and security, computer graphics and game design. A Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field is preferred, with preference given to applicants with a Ph.D. This is primarily a teaching opportunity in which the candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate majors and non-majors. The semester course load is four courses with three preparations. This position is for academic year 2013-1014 and begins August, 2013.
