Location: Merchandising - Rancho Bernardo Warehouse/San Diego Zoo Safari Park

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is located in San Pasqual Valley near Escondido, California, this adventure offers ZOO Perks which include discounts on food/premium products, free and discounted admission to local attractions, and accrual of vacation and sick time (exception for some grants and Summer Fellowships).  

Positions available – 6 Temporary Union positions without benefiits

Attire – San Diego Zoo Global has a very conservative grooming policy. Tattoos may not be visible or must be appropriately covered while on duty. Jewelry may be worn if it does not detract from a well-groomed look or create a safety hazard. No facial or tongue piercing.
 

(Union Position) Hourly wage:  Pay rate - $11.50 - $12.20/hr

Job Requirements include:

Pricing Clerk - Rancho Bernardo Warehouse

These positions are located at our Rancho Bernardo Warehouse (Approx 23 miles north of the San Diego Zoo and 7 miles south of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park).

The employment process will take place at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park but your actual worksite will be in Rancho Bernardo.

Interested applicants must be at least 16 years of age to apply. Positions are available starting in March. These are 4-8 hr any of the seven days of the week as follows:

Mon through Saturday from 6:00am - 4:30pm

Hours scheduled will be approximately 4-40hrs/wk. Part-time weekly shifts are available at 4-8 hours/shift. Scheduling will be set as it best fits our operation. Positions to last up to 6 months in duration from March through September, 2018.

The primary function for these positions includes the processing and distribution of merchandise into our gift shops for purchase. This process requires the ability to move moderate to heavy objects, the ability to compute simple arithmetic calculations, ability to use a list for product identification, ability to clearly record information regarding the merchandise that’s been received as well as the ability to input data into a PC that will generate pricing labels. Additional duties include the ability to use a 2-wheel dollie and to push a cart full of boxes.

Job Requirements:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
 
The Pricing Clerk performs all job assignments with a positive attitude that reflects San Diego Zoo Global's mission and vision of connecting people to wildlife, conservation and pursues green/conservation practices when feasible.  A Pricing Clerk may work individually or as part of a team to process orders from vendors of goods to be sold in the orgnaization's gift shops; un-boxing, counting and entering receipt information, product labeling and re-boxing to send to the shops. This position reports to the Merchandising Warehouse Supervisor.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Prices all merchandise
  • Marks all price tags accurately
  • Completes damage reports as necessary
  • Responsible for checking and pricing each item of merchandise
  • Processes incoming orders and validate items against Purchase Orders
  • Verify counts and enter into computer
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Performs a quality check
  • Print labels and price the products
  • Research and reconcile discrepancies
  • Adheres to and supports all organizational policies and practices
 
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES 
 
  • Check in an order individually from start to finish, or as part of a team effort
  • checks and price each item of merchandise received before forwarding it to the proper location
  • Reviews and checks quantities of merchandise received with amount being distributed
  • Move items and boxes by hand, dolly, cart, pallet jack, or other means not requiring special authorization
  • Re-box and label for distribution
  • Packages hangars, sort through sale boxes, and preliminary sorting of product being returned to vendors
  • Use computer and work with queries, enters data, and makes price labels
  • Communicate with all areas of Merchandising’s staff to assure accurate completion of various tasks
  • Assists with Physical Inventories

QUALIFICATIONS

Training and/or experience that would demonstrate the skills outlined above
 
Knowledge of:
  • Word processing data base systems
Ability to:
  • Make simple arithmetic calculations
  • Distinguish orders numbers and merchandise
  • Understand and carry out instructions
  • Accurately and clearly mark all merchandise
  • Use word processing systems
  • Use constructive communication skills

  • Competently perform the duties outlined in the Representative Duties section.
 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Warehouse environment; exposure to varying temperature conditions, dust and noise, and move about in work area.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position has been identified as one requiring at least occasional lifting in excess of 50 pounds; intermittent lifting of moderate to heavy objects; periods of standing, sitting and walking; Pushing or pulling loaded carts, dollies, or carrying light packages.
