The Reservation Sales (Ticketing) Representative position requires selling and processing reservations and ticket orders.  Requires excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.  Prior sales experience is essential (call/ticketing center preferred).  Applicants must be able to work effectively with others in a multi-task environment and be detail oriented.  Strong math and computer skills are necessary.  Experience and knowledge of reservation and ticketing systems are preferred.  Bi-lingual in Spanish is desirable.  Selected candidate must be available to work any of the seven days of the week (including various morning and evening shifts, weekends and holidays), approximately 20 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours during peak business seasons (Summer, Winter holidays, Spring Break, etc.).

PRIMARY PURPOSE

 
The Reservation Sales/Membership Representative performs all job duties with an attitude that reflects San Diego Zoo Global’s mission and vision of connecting people to wildlife, conservation and pursues green/conservation practices when feasible.  The Reservation Sales/Membership Representativesells SDZ Global products for Admission, Memberships, Tours and Programs. This position reports to Manager – Reservation Sales.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
  • Resolve customer service concerns
  • Services incoming telephone calls in a Sales and Customer Service Call Center
  • Cultivates Member relationships to build philanthropic interest
  • Sells and/or provides information about tickets, tours, and programs
  • Sells and/or provides information about memberships, yearly passes, magazine subscriptions, and associated events
  • Up sells memberships when appropriate
  • Responds to Customer Service inquiries
  • Processes payments and refunds
  • Maintains reservation and membership records
  • Maintain tour/program inventory and schedules
  • Provides support to event coordinators and outside sales staff as required
  • Conducts special projects as assigned
  • Represents SDZ Global at consumer trade show or events as needed
  • Adheres to all SDZ Global and department policies and practices
  • Practices the GRRREAT Customer Service Standards
 
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
 
  •     Sells SDZ Global products for Admission, Memberships, Tours and Programs by providing product information, booking reservations, processing order payments, and fulfilling ticket requests
  •     Representatives resolve customer service concerns following established department policies and procedures. 
  • Sells and/or provides information about tickets, tours, and programs for individuals, groups, and contracted clients
  • Responds to Customer Service inquiries from Members and/or the general public and offers appropriate information to generate additional sales and/or resolve guest concerns 
  • Prints and processes ticket orders
  • Processes and produces correspondence as necessary
  • Produces/maintains routine documents and logs
 
ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS
 
Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Examples of representative qualifications include experience in sales, customer service or telemarketing (call / ticketing center preferred) involving customer contact; Bilingual Spanish language skills desirable.
 
Knowledge of:
  • Computer programs (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, database systems)
  • Basic math skills
  • Cash handling skills
Ability to:
  • Use effective customer service skills
  • Create and maintain accurate records
  • Effectively organize and be detail oriented
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Office environment.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Prolonged sitting and computer use; moderate walking, standing, lifting approximately 20-25 pounds.
ALL EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON PASSING A DRUG SCREEN.

SOME EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON PASSING  PRE-PLACEMENT TESTING.
