Description:

Position Summary

Exchanges chips, coins, currency, tickets, and coupons with other Bankers and verifies settlements with Cage Cashiers. Verifies and prepares currency and coin for the Ticket Redemption Kiosks and Cash Dispensers.  Verifies the Check cashing and cash advance settlements from the Cage Cashiers. Oversees the activity of their assigned Cage or Vault.

Supervision Exercised

Supervised by the Cage/Vault Manager, Cage/Vault Lead Supervisor, and the Cage/Vault Supervisor.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensures strict adherence to Sandia Casino and Cage/Vault Department policies, procedures and internal controls.
  2. Ensures excellent customer service.
  3. Maintains necessary records and adheres to Title 31 and W2-G reporting procedures.
  4. Counts, verifies and signs banks issued and/or assigned.
  5. Creates a customer profile to determine check cashing limits and issues VIP cards.
  6. Verifies and records the Cashier’s settlements that include customer E-checks and paper checks, credit and/or debit card cash advances.
  7. Verifies and records all incoming and disbursements of Jackpot Safekeeping.
  8. Operates Self- Service Coin Redemption Machine and coin counters.
  9. Performs the daily drops and maintains the Coin redemption machine.
  10. Verifies and maintains the inventory of Promotional Chips.
  11. Ensures proper customer transactions, including cash/chip exchange and conversion.
  12. Opens and closes the cages and vault as necessary.
  13. Maintains adequate cash on hand while determining proper cash flows.
  14. Sells Safe Deposit Boxes and logs customer’s usage.
  15. Verifies and records all cash sales from retail outlets.
  16. Prepares daily bank deposits for the Casino.
  17. Prepares daily tip deposits for Casino, F&B, Resort and Hotel Employees.
  18. Sells and redeems Gift Certificates.
  19. Sells and records Tournament entries.
  20. Records Slot Jackpot payouts.
  21. Approves reprints of VIP Check Cashing cards.
  22. Maintains adequate wrapped, bagged and racked reserves of currency, coin and chips.
  23. Verifies large cash, chip and coin transfers on a daily basis.
  24. Forwards all paperwork for the assigned shift to the Revenue Audit Department.
  25. Ensures the proper flow of casino assets to each department as required.
  26. Oversees the activity of assigned Cage Cashiers.
  27. Verifies and safeguards the assigned Bankroll.
  28. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

  1. Ability to deal effectively with the general public and casino staff.
  2. Ability to use cage equipment: 10 Key calculator, money sorters and counters.
  3. Ability to receive and verify large amounts of currency, coin and chips.
  4. Ability to complete moderately complex arithmetic calculations.
  5. Ability to pass cashier’s test.
  6. Ability to work odd and unusual hours, including weekends and overtime.
  7. Ability to work under high pressure and stress conditions.
  8. Ability to exhibit a strong motivational commitment to the organization.
  9. Ability to speak accurately and clearly in public.
  10. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  11. Ability to maintain accurate records.
  12. Ability to operate a personal computer.
  13. Knowledge of basic accounting methods, policies and procedures.
  14. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
 

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years cashiering experience.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.

 

Preferred:

  1. One (1) year casino cage cashiering experience.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed while standing at their station during their assigned shift.
  2. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  3. No or very limited physical effort required.
  4. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  5. Will be exposed to cigarette smoke, and loud noises.
  6. Must be able to lift trays and bags weighing 50 lbs.
  7. Specific required movements include the following:
  • Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry
  • Arms-reach, carry, push, pull, lift, twist, and rotate
  • Legs-lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate
  • Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye and hand coordination, overall and finger dexterity.
