POKER SHIFT SUPERVISOR

Description:

Position Summary

Manages the Poker Room during an assigned shift.  Creates and administers the dealer rotation throughout the Poker Room.  Ensures that dealers are adhering to the rules, procedures, and gaming regulations.  Handles jackpot payoffs during the course of a shift.

Supervision Exercised

Supervised by the Poker Manager.

Supervises employees as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

In the absence of and/or assists Poker Manager in all of the following:

  1. Responsible for all Poker Room operations when on duty.

  2. Assists in the planning and implementation of policies, rules and directives to accomplish department objectives. Improves and standardizes house rules and procedures.

  3. Directs supervisors in coordination the work of their assigned employees and assigned areas of responsibilities to ensure shift continuity.

  4. Ensures strict adherence to the Sandia Resort and Casino System of Internal Controls.

  5. Directs and monitors supervisors and employees to ensure game protection and loss prevention techniques as well as protecting all sensitive equipment.

  6. Evaluates and continuously compares the performance of the Poker Room operations and standards. Analyzes abnormal deviations from the norm and takes corrective action when necessary.

  7. Ensures Poker Room operations comply with gaming laws and regulations.

  8. Responsible for timekeeping system scheduling of all shift employees.

  9. Responsible for ordering supplies utilizing MMS.

  10. Works to ensure compliance with all dealing procedures.

  11. Makes the ultimate decisions regarding any disputes on the games.

  12. Responsible for ensuring timely submittals of performance appraisals of assigned staff.

  13. Provides excellence in customer service and ensures it from all employees.

  14. Helps with the hiring process including interviewing and selection.

  15. Must make “gray area” decisions

  16. Responsible for all attendance tracking

  17. Deals effectively with customer problems/complaints.

  18. Maintains proper impress bank for all games.

  19. Serves as role model for subordinates.

  20. Assists with tournaments, jackpots and promotions.

  21. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

  4. Ability to work odd and unusual hours, including weekends and overtime.

  6. Ability to write and prepare standard reports and documents.

  7. Knowledge of all Poker Room game rules and regulations.

  8. Ability to administer proper procedures/payouts for bad beat jackpots.

  9. Ability to administer all procedures for tournaments.

  10. Knowledge of all applications for timekeeping systems such as Kronos.

  11. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years supervisory experience in casino Poker Card Room management and Administration.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors.
  2. Work hours are subject to change with overtime work required.
  3. Subject to hazards, which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  4. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted floors.  Ability to work a flexible scheduled including weekends and holidays.
  5. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching. Specifically required movements include the following:
  • Trunk - bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry
  • Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate
  • Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate
  • Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.
