SEASONAL COOK- ERC

Description:

Position Summary

Develops and prepares menus, purchases and cooks food, serves meals and drinks, and makes sure the kitchen is clean and sanitized.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Child Development Administrator. 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops and prepares menus, purchases food, and cooks meals.
  2. Serves a range of hot and cold food items; ensures that appropriate portions are served.
  3. Ensures that food temperature requirements are maintained.
  4. Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen area, dining area and food storage areas.
  5. Practices proper safe handling of food.
  6. Performs additional job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned

  1. Ability to respond to oral and written instructions.
  2. Ability to read, write, and interpret recipes.
  3. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.

  5. Knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements.
  6. Knowledge of the ingredients used in the preparation of foods.
  7. Ability to follow the direction of a task lead.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Required:

  1. Six (6) months experience as a cook
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
  3. Must complete the New Mexico Food Handlers course within 30 days of hire.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed mostly indoors, but some outdoor work could occur.
  2. Subject to noise levels, hazards such as infections, diseases, odors, dusts, fumes and dust.
  3. Duties may involve walking, standing, crouching, and kneeling.
  4. Specific required movements include the following:  (90 lbs. Maximum)
    • Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry
    • Arms-reach, carry, push, pull, lift, twist, rotate
    • Legs-lift, push, pull, twist, rotate, balance
    • Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye and hand coordination, overall and finger dexterity
