As a Porter you are responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The incumbent is also responsible for performing cleaning duties, as directed by the Lead Porter, and also may be assigned to rotate between any one of the following crews: carpet, window, office, restroom maintenance and general maintenance.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Depending on crew assignment, this position may be subject to varying levels of crowds, noise, and smoke, the severity of which depends upon where stationed and customer volume. This position works with various types of chemicals; proper precautions are taken. This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions. Proper clothing is provided. Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work area. Ability to inspect and clean areas of responsibility. Must be able to balance, climb and crawl as position is at times required to use ladders, as well as clean ground level areas. When assigned to kitchen crew, will be required to lift, push and pull 100 pounds throughout an 8-our shift. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Prior janitorial experience preferred but not required. The skills necessary of this position are typically acquired through a minimum of two months’ on-the-job training or through related experience.
