  • Greet and communicate with all guests in a friendly and courteous manner.  Insure prompt, expedient and courteous service to all guests and visitors to the outlet at all times.
  • Smile and show genuine interest in the guests’ needs or questions and always attempt to accommodate any reasonable request.
  • Receive and understand beverage orders and repeat them back to the guests and/or servers for accuracy. 
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of the brands of beer, wine and liquors being offered for consumption at the Resort.  Know the ingredients to the most commonly asked for cocktails and specialty drinks, the garnishes they require, the proper glassware for them and the current prices.
  • Properly mix the drinks, set for presentation and serve the desired alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as requested by the guests and/or the cocktail servers.  Provide thanks for visiting the Resort each time a drink is delivered.
  • Adhere to, enforce and practice all alcoholic beverage laws, policies, and regulations.  Continuously watch for signs of intoxication for the protection and enjoyment of all guests.
  • Circulate through the assigned bar area on a continuous basis to provide superior guest service.
  • Attempt to resolve guest complaints or contact the Hotel Supervisor on behalf of the guests.  Assist in finding an agreeable solution to the defined issue.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.  Keep the bar and side stations wiped down and free of dirty glassware and ashtrays and dispose of used plastic cups, beer cans and other trash. 
  • Assist in cleaning, organizing and maintaining the coolers (reach-in and walk-in), coffee makers, mixers and other fixtures in the assigned bar area.
  • Abide by the established standards for health and safety and for continual side work duties.
  • Operate the established POS systems by following the correct ordering procedures, identifying the correct drinks provided and that the approved comping procedures are followed, when applicable.
  • Obtain, maintain and track the established cash bank for the outlet assigned.  Comprehend and follow all established cash handling and drawer count-down procedures.
  • Document and perform a physical inventory count of the bar area at the scheduled intervals or upon the direction of the assigned supervisors.
  • Maintain a good working relationship and provide daily detailed communications with Hotel Management and other co-workers.
  • Conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the established Resort’s Mission, Value System, and Guest Promise.  Notify co-workers of discrepancies noticed.  Adhere to all grooming standards.
  • Follow all Resort, and departmental policies and procedures, as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


  • Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma, a General Education Development (GED) certificate or its equivalent.
  • Must have attended and completed a bartending school, specialized training in serving alcoholic beverages or pass the audition at the end of the Pearl River Resort Bartending School Refresher class.  Competency in mixing drinks, presentation and identifying intoxicated guests is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of previous bartending experience is preferred.
  • Must be Serv-Safe (Serving Food Safely) certified before starting to work.  All candidates must successfully complete the scheduled class and obtain a test score of 84% or higher.
  • Must be C.A.R.E. (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively) certified before starting to work. All candidates must successfully complete the class and obtain a test score of 84% or higher.
  • Must have superior communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Basic math skills are required as demonstrated through a structured testing process.  You must score at least 85% or better on the established Basic Math test.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must demonstrate the willingness to provide exceptional guest service to the clients, vendors and guests in order for their return patronage.
  • Must be willing and able to follow all departmental policies and procedures, as required.
  • Must possess the willingness to be a team player and partner with other Associates in order to complete the assigned tasks.  The candidate must be able to accomplish all assigned duties in a positive manner.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for 90% of shift.
  • Must be able to work within a high noise level environment.
  • Must be able to work within a smoke filled environment.
  • Excessive bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling is required during assigned shift.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds.
