DEEP WATER LIFEGUARD

Description:

*** TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT - POSITION WILL END ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 31, 2014 ***
  • Provide outstanding guest and Associate service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Resort.
  • Ensure the safety of all guest and staff within the park.
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ensure that all rides are being operated properly and that any unsafe conditions are reported to the supervisor.
  • Comply with NASCO standards.
  • Attend weekly in-services.
  • Maintain a clean park.
  • Sweep sand out of pools.
  • Assist guests with tubes.
  • Assist guests as well as pick up lifejackets that guests may have left on the top of towers and throughout the park and place them neatly on the lifejacket stands.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in performing all aspects of their assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age or if under (18) must have one (1) year of previous experience as a Geyser Falls lifeguard.
  • Must be able to swim 200 yards.
  • Must complete Lifeguard Training presented by NASCO and taught by the NASCO instructors at Geyser Falls Water Theme Park.
  • Must be able to deal with change and uncertainty and flexible enough to adapt and sensibly respond to situations at hand.
  • Must possess excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Must possess the ability to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedures manuals.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and be able to multi-task when conducting the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be willing and able to follow all departmental policies and procedures, as required.
  • Must possess the willingness to be a team player and partner with other Associates in order to complete the assigned tasks.  The candidate must be able to accomplish all assigned duties in a positive manner.
  • Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time in excess of 10 hours.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for at least 90% of assigned shift.
  • Must be able to retrieve a ten pound brick from the deepest portion of the pool.
  • Must be able to use a whistle.
  • Must be able to use hand signals.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds.
  • Bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, and pulling required throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat.
  • Must be able to work in direct sunlight.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
