  • Review, negotiate, and draft contracts, leases and other legal agreements relating to activities, events, and/or enterprise issues within Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise (CRDE).
  • Assist in the review and makes recommendations regarding assigned legal issues that impact Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise (CRDE).
  • Manage certain litigation and tort claims as assigned impacting Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise (CRDE)
  • Assist in the review and make recommendations regarding all legal issues impacting Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise (CRDE) including those related to conflict of laws, sovereignty, and labor law and workers compensation issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal opinions to the Board of Directors of Choctaw Resort Development Enterprise (CRDE).
  • Assist in the drafting of legal documents, including resolutions, Board policies, ordinances, rules and regulations and other legal or related papers.
  • Ensure that exceptional guest service standards are implemented throughout the department and are carried out throughout the Resort. 
  • Assist in the completion of data and analysis of both past and current year departmental requirements to quantify and justify requests for funds for the annual budget.  Assist in the preparation of an annual department operating revenue and expense budget for review, as required.
  • Maintain lines of communication and cooperation between other resort groups and attractions.
  •  Perform all other duties and handle all other projects as assigned related to the responsibilities and qualifications.

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Choctaw Gaming Commission.
  • Must have a law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be an active practicing attorney in good standing.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of related professional legal experience in a wide range of legal issues.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the interpretation, drafting, and negotiating of contracts including AIA, management, construction, development, IT, leases and finance documents.
  • Must have experience in compliance matters of the various rules, regulations and ordinances impacting a highly regulated industry.  
  • Member of the Mississippi Bar preferred.
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry preferred.
  • Previous experience with working with a document management system preferred
  • Previous experience litigating tort claims and workers compensation claims preferred.
  • Previous experience with large commercial transactions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Indian gaming law is preferred.
  • Must have analytical, drafting, and negotiating skills and have the ability to have a high degree of originality, initiative, and judgment.
  • Must possess superb written and oral communication skills in dealing with executives, leaders, distinguished guests, clients, staff, and other department personnel in order to increase business and meet established company goals.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to speak in front of large groups of people, presenting a professional appearance and an effective method of delivery.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must display a professional presence and consistently demonstrate honesty and fairness
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions and make substantiated recommendations to solve problems for the Resort.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to get along with coworkers and guests and be able to work closely with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and to deploy resources effectively.
  • Must be a creative thinker who can provide new and exciting ways to project the Resort with success to a growing audience.
  • Must have an understanding of the region, as well as a willingness to learn and understand tribal customs, knowledge and culture.
  • Must possess the ability to deal well with change and uncertainty and flexible enough to adapt and sensibly respond to the situation at hand.
  • Must possess the proven ability to handle multiple tasks and deploy resources effectively.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to stand and talk for periods in excess of four (4) hours.
  • Must be able to work on computer and keyboard for periods in excess of four (4) hours.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work within a smoke filled environment.
