Banquet Team Captain

As a Banquet Team Captain, you will have a genuine passion for guest service, top notch organizational skills, and the ability to work well in a team. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Direct Banquet front of house operations and ensuring that all banquet events are prepared and executed to the specifications of Banquet Event Order (BEO), Resume, and client. Liaison between client and Banquet’s team. Responsible for ensuring cadence of event.
  2. *Supervise front line staff for the Banquet department.  Train, develop and maintain teams’ knowledge of proper sequence of service, service standards, and expectations. Encourage feedback from staff and respond to needs in a timely manner.
  3. *Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction is achieved and maintained. Anticipate and adapt to last minute changes, remain thoughtful in difficult situations and positively resolve problems with critical thinking, taking initiative to satisfy and exceed guest expectations.
  4. *Must attend BEO and Resume meetings to ensure clear understanding for proper attention to timing and service needs. Respectively, conduct pre-event meetings to ensure team is fluent in event specifications, menus, times, etc.
  5. *Maintain complete knowledge of the daily scheduled group functions, times, locations, load ins/load outs, shipments, amount of people; location of all function space and names of rooms; all styles of meeting and banquet room settings. Knowledge of menu being served for each function served and able to explain major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be served. 
  6. *Work closely with other departments and vendors to meet client needs and ensure consistency of services and the highest quality of operations.  Know your resources around the property.
  7. *Oversee a shift to include but not limited to overseeing all opening and closing duties, cleaning detail, money handling and minimizing down time.
  8. *Maintain a safe, sanitary and organized work environment.
  9. Ensure full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Job Qualifications

  1. A high school diploma or equivalency preferred And 1 year in a food and beverage related position is required. 
  2. The ability to successfully achieve Responsible Alcohol and ServSafe certifications within 90 days.
  3. Obtain a bartender’s license issued by the City of Milwaukee within 90 days of hire and maintain license.
  4. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  5. The ability to interact with guests and team members professionally.
  6. Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.  
  7. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and general knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  8. The Ability to use strong organization skills and attention to detail to accurately handle multiple job duties and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Ability to read and interpret written instructions and diagrams.
  10. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the property for duration of scheduled shift. The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds occasionally, with assistance. Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions

The noise level is usually moderate to loud.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free. 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be exposed to, handle, and work with foods that are commonly classified as allergens, including but not limited to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, soy, dairy products, seafood, shellfish, and gluten.
