Data Warehouse Developer

Description:

As a Data Warehouse Developer on the FP&A team, you will play a key role in bringing Potawatomi’s data and analytics strategy to life. You will be able to extend your business intelligence skills from database design through report generation while utilizing the latest technologies and best practices to deliver high quality solutions to end users. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Participate in the design, development, and analysis of data architecture and warehousing approaches.
  2. *Design, build, test, and execute extract, transform, load (ETL) packages, including automation of ETL jobs for recurring imports.
  3. *Monitor performance and tuning of database systems and solutions to ensure continuous availability.
  4. *Research requirements, design, and develop data models; deploy business intelligence solutions using SSRS, Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Excel among others.
  5. *Develop queries and reports for ad-hoc requests.
  6. *Create and maintain documentation including database design, business logic, and reporting standards.
  7. *Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure user and data security, privacy, and integrity are maintained.
  8. Keep current with the industry’s latest trends and technologies and seek opportunities to bring advanced analytical techniques and solutions to the business intelligence space.
  9. Provide back-up and support to management.
  10. Ensure full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Requirements:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of business intelligence, business analytics, or data warehousing experience performing at least three of the following functions: SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, MDX, and SQL are required; will consider equivalent experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of data warehouse methodologies, data modeling, and ETL technologies.
  3. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and the ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, DAX, R, or Python preferred. Working knowledge of source control and use of a software development lifecycle system such as TFS or JIRA preferred.
  4. Experience with agile development methodologies preferred.
  5. Experience with requirement gathering techniques such as requirements workshops, brainstorming, interviews, benchmarking, observation, and prototyping.
  6. The ability to work with limited supervision, and work independently in a highly collaborative team setting.
  7. The ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  8. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.  
  9. The ability to interact and communicate with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, in verbal and written form, including the ability to speak in front of small groups and work in a team environment.
  10. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  11. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the office and property.  The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.     

 

Working Conditions
The noise level is usually low. When on the casino floor the noise level increases. The work environment is smoke free, when on the casino floor it is not smoke free.
