Banquet Supervisor

Description:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training team members; scheduling and motivating team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding team members; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
  2. *Oversee and assist in the set-up, break down, cleaning detail, execution, and service of banquet events.
  3. *Conduct pre-shift meetings, establish reports, and delegate tasks effectively.
  4. *Maintain complete knowledge of event menu and beverage selections to act as a resource to guests. 
  5. *Assess, anticipate, and attend to guest needs or concerns in a prompt and courteous manner. Refer or report serious or complex issues to management.
  6. *Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment.
  7. Work cooperatively with other venues and departments to ensure consistent services and optimal guest satisfaction.  
  8. Maintain complete knowledge of venue service standards for all positions.
  9. Maintain complete knowledge of banquet menu items, beverage selections, specials, promotions, events, and policies.
  10. Ensure full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Requirements:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of related experience in a banquet/catering facility of similar size and volume are required. Multi-venue experience is preferred.
  2. Six months of supervisory experience is preferred.
  3. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and general knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with timekeeping and attendance software and/or point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred.
  4. The ability to use strong organization skills and attention to detail to accurately handle multiple job duties and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  5. The ability to obtain and maintain a City of Milwaukee bartender’s license within 90 days.
  6. The ability to successfully achieve Responsible Alcohol and ServSafe certifications within 90 days.
  7. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  8. The ability to interact with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, including the ability to speak in front of small groups.
  9. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. 
  10. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the office and property for duration of scheduled shift. The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.   The team member must be able to operate a personal computer/point-of-sale (POS) system. The team member is required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with assistance.  Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.     

 

Working Conditions
The noise level is usually moderate to loud.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.
