Accounts Payable and Tax Liability Accountant I

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Apply principles of accounting to record financial information and prepare financial reports. 
  2. *Complete assigned daily, monthly, and periodic basic accounts payable (AP) functions including but not limited to creating journal entries, reconciling vendor accounts, analyzing general ledger account detail, and preparing financial spreadsheets.
  3. *Audit received documentation for completeness and accuracy. Reconcile as necessary to supporting documents; investigate and resolve discrepancies with Purchasing, Receiving, and/or vendors. 
  4. *Perform data entry for AP processing and withholding tax. 
  5. *Assist in and support the completion of weekly check runs and/or electronic vendor payments.
  6. *Perform assigned accounts payable and tax liability processes including tax deposits with federal and state taxing authorities.  
  7. *Prepare and organize supporting documentation for internal and external reviews and audits as assigned. 
  8. Create, maintain, and update desktop guidelines and assigned policy and procedure documents. Provide input for process improvement.  
  9. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all assigned casino and/or hotel operational areas, how these areas relate to each other, and how these areas’ financial activity should be reflected in the general ledger. 
  10. Perform job duties in full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required. If no Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field and 2 years of accounts payable and/or general accounting experience are required.
  2. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be able to demonstrate basic Microsoft Excel Skills.
  3. The ability to use strong organization skills and attention to detail to accurately handle multiple job duties and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  4. The ability to use basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and counting using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. 
  5. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.  
  6. The ability to interact with guests and team members professionally.
  7. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  8. While performing the duties of this job, the team member must be able to talk, hear, operate a personal computer, and move freely throughout the office and property. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions
The noise level is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.
