Maintenance Engineer

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Perform general maintenance, installation, and repair on hotel furniture, fixtures, and equipment by performing a variety of tasks related to carpentry, painting, lighting, plumbing, cosmetic items, and other facility operations.
  2. *Maintain, inspect, and repair hotel facilities to include but not limited to electrical, mechanical, Heat, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing systems to operate at optimum efficiency.
  3. *Monitor and make occasional adjustments to the building Automation System to ensure guest comfort.
  4. *Respond to and complete maintenance and repair requests in a timely, safe, and accurate manner while ensuring high levels of guest service and minimal interruption to business operations.
  5. *Maintain safe operation and care of all building maintenance tools and equipment. Ensure equipment is in proper working condition, replace worn parts, and maintain parts inventory stock.
  6. *Conduct preventive maintenance, as directed by the Chief Engineer, for hotel furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  7. Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  8. Ensure adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements. Adhere to the company’s safety policies and standard levels, assuring that daily work and projects are completed in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
  9. Work weekend rotation schedule to provide adequate in-house and on-call coverage and respond to emergency situations during non-scheduled hours.
  10. Perform job duties in full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of facilities maintenance and repair experience in a hotel and/or commercial setting are required.
  2. Additional vocational education and/or apprentice training preferred; training in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration is a plus.
  3. Knowledge of building maintenance, applicable codes and regulations, and use of departmental equipment and supplies.
  4. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with Work Order Systems and Building Automation Systems preferred.
  5. The ability to use basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and counting using whole numbers and fractions.
  6. The ability to read and interpret written instructions, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  7. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
  8. The ability to interact with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, including the ability to speak in front of small groups.
  9. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  10. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the property for duration of scheduled shift. The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member is required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds occasionally, with assistance. Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions

The noise level is usually moderate to loud. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free. While performing the duties of this job, the team member occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and at heights. The team member is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, cold, and vibration.
