Training and Development Specialist

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Design and develop customized curriculum for both technical and non-technical needs including but not limited to soft skills, leadership, customer service, and software.
  2. *Partner with all areas of the organization to develop training procedures, materials, manuals, tools, and documents that are consistent with sound instructional design, adult learning principles, and align with PH&C’s goals, mission, vision, and values. 
  3. *Perform training needs evaluation, research and determine effective training delivery method, regularly evaluate the effectiveness of training, and revise training as needed to meet the organization’s goals.
  4. *Implement and present organization-wide training and a variety of ongoing and as-needed developmental curriculum in order to maintain and improve team member skills and organizational needs. Present information via a variety of instructional techniques and formats.
  5. *Facilitate new hire orientation sessions in a face-to-face classroom environment including but not limited to scheduling and leading tours and lunch breaks, assisting guest speakers, and leading program coordination.
  6. * Present information via a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.
  7. *Assist and support management in areas such as change management, performance improvement, leadership development, succession planning, team building, workforce management, and talent management.
  8. *Develop alternative solutions and methods of delivery which may include traditional classroom facilitation, on-the-job, web-based, or multi-media based learning.
  9. *Maintain accurate training records; compile data and provide reports to management regarding training and developmental needs.
  10. Perform job duties in full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of adult curriculum/instructional design, training, and teaching experience in an organization of similar size are required.   A Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred.  Group and individual face-to-face training experience is preferred. 
  2. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint is preferred.  Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and/or learning management systems is preferred.
  3. Must be able to demonstrate presentation skills.
  4. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information. 
  5. The ability to interact with guests and team members professionally, including the ability to speak in front of groups of team members. 
  6. The ability to interact with stakeholders of all levels and understand the interests of multiple stakeholders and how those interests relate to Potawatomi Hotel & Casino (PH&C) and its goals.
  7. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  8. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear.  The team member must be able to operate a personal computer and move freely throughout the office and property. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions
The noise level is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases.  The facility is not smoke free.
