Compensation Specialist

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Provide detailed analytical support for various compensation activities and programs such as conducting statistical analysis, data modeling, and costing of pay programs, (e.g. salary planning, merit increases, structure movements, and salary range development).
  2. *Provide guidance to operations management regarding compensation policies and practices.  
  3. *Review proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established guidelines and policies.  
  4. *Evaluate jobs by ensuring that consistent, equitable, and market competitive salary treatment is maintained utilizing market salary surveys and benchmark information for market pricing analysis.  Prepare results for review and approval.  Retain documentation.  Support market pricing strategy by participating in salary surveys.
  5. * Develop, update and maintain job descriptions and organizational charts for all positions in the organization.  
  6. *Classify jobs according to exemption status regarding the overtime provision of the law, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  7. *Assist in administering the organization’s merit increase process.  
  8. *Build and maintain strong working relationships with team members, human resources team members, and business management throughout the organization.
  9. Support the Human Resources Information Specialist by maintaining Human Resources Information System (HRIS) data and generating regular and ad hoc reports, as needed.  
  10. Perform regular quality audits of data. 
  11. Ensure full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience are required. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field may take the place of 1 year of experience. 
  2. Experience in a large organization (over 2,000 employees) is preferred.
  3. Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel; HRIS knowledge required, preferably in Ceridian.
  4. The ability to use basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and counting using whole numbers and fractions.
  5. Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members of the organization.    
  6. The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.  
  7. The ability to interact with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, including the ability to speak in front of small groups. 
  8. The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  9. While performing the duties of this job, the team member must be able to talk, hear, operate a personal computer, and move freely throughout the property. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions

The noise level is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.
