Job Description

Summary:  The Copy and Content Editor performs a broad range of duties including proofreading, fact-checking and modifying content to ensure grammar, syntax and punctuation are used correctly and style guides are followed. Working under the leadership of the Copy Supervisor, this role supports the overall marketing efforts of Oneida Nation Enterprises (ONE) by ensuring marketing communications produced by ONE’s internal agency are not only factually and grammatically correct but also in alignment with brand standards for copy tone and voice. The scope of these projects includes the creation of brand guidelines, asset libraries, advertising, marketing collateral, point of sale creative and promotions to deploy across a range of owned, earned and paid mediums supporting all guest and employee-facing initiatives for ONE’s brands, Turning Stone Resort Casino, YBR Casino & Sports Book, Point Place Casino, The Lake House, hotels, golf, spas, restaurants, nightclubs, weddings, sales, convenience stores, marinas, and eco-tourism including the Oneida Indian Nation Outfitters.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Responsible for the editing and proofreading of copy and digital content across a wide variety of media including advertising, emails, social media, editorial and websites.
  2. Effectively edits, proofreads, fact checks and reviews copy for brand voice, grammar, syntax, spelling and overall content.
  3. Maintains content accuracy by consistently testing/verifying all numeric data and links (URL’s, telephone numbers, prices, etc.)
  4. Recommends edited copy options that provide more clear and concise communication.
  5. Communicates with copywriters, designers and coworkers in a responsive and helpful manner.
  6. Remains up-to-date on all enterprise awards/recognition, amenities, events and activities.
  7. Understand and use standard proofreading symbols and markings to identify needed corrections.
  8. Correctly applies styles, formats documents and edits directly in art files as required.

Job Requirements

  1. Demonstrated editorial knowledge of multi-channel (more than two: print, digital, video, direct marketing, POS/retail merchandising, experiential) campaign development is preferred.
  2. Experience in marketing/creative development in an agency, marketing communications or in-house/shared services environment.
  3. Familiarity with AP style guide, copy tone and brand voice standards for marketing documents.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field or equivalent experience.
  5. Successful candidates typically have 2-4 years of related experience developing copy and content for an advertising agency, marketing services company or in-house marketing team. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Advanced degree is a plus.
  6. Must be highly organized, detail oriented and possess excellent time management skills.  
  7. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include evening hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
