Director of Marketing Communications

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing Communications will lead a team that collaborates with the Enterprise Marketing function to provide a comprehensive communication strategy which supports guest or public-facing marketing campaigns and initiatives.  The Director will build strong relationships across Marketing and operational teams to ensure that communications are consistent with Oneida Indian Nation standards and culture and consistent with specific Enterprise branding.  The Marketing Communications team will coordinate with peers in the Communication function to arrange appropriate media outreach and events as well as production of content to support digital, social, and other platforms.  In addition to supporting Marketing campaigns, the Marketing Communications team will actively identify communication opportunities and networks which support Enterprise growth and reputation.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.    Working with the VP of Communications, develop and implement the marketing communications strategy of Turning Stone Resort Casino and Oneida Nation Enterprises brands.
2.    Manage agency providers, consultants, freelancers and other suppliers including sourcing, contract negotiation, and management.
3.    Develop and execute marketing strategies for new and existing brands that drive increased sales revenue, attract new guests, increase guest retention, and enhance upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
4.    Establish and grow target market share.
5.    Direct a team of marketing experts to implement campaign tactics including advertising, digital communications, CRM and other tactics.
6.    Working collaboratively with business unit leaders to drive goal attainment by providing appropriate tools, materials, presentations and consumer-benefit messaging strategies.
7.    Actively oversee marketing campaign management from inception, to launch, to evaluation of results and future opportunity ideation.
8.    Monitor and evaluate guest research, market conditions and competitor data, and implement marketing plan alterations based on such market intelligence.
9.    Manage marketing costs and budgets within the Communications budget.
10.    Manage and direct a team to include: recruitment, mentoring, project management, professional development and performance evaluation.
11.    Maintain external professional relationships to assure the ongoing availability of specialized expertise when their services are required.
12.    Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

1.    Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field.  MBA preferred.
2.    Minimum seven years of working experience preferably in the hospitality industry, and including various product lines, a high volume of sales and budgeted marketing dollars.
3.    Leadership experience developing teams for success.
4.    Excellent project management skills – highly organized, results oriented, and able to take initiative and lead projects.
5.    Ability to work independently as well as within a team; ability to manage multiple projects and staff, including freelancers and vendors.
6.    General computer application proficiency (spreadsheets, word processing).
7.    Superb written and verbal communication skills.
