Public Relations and Communications Coordinator

Job Description

Summary:  Assists the Public Relations Manager in the development and execution of communications plans, with a concentration on social media platforms, which align with the Oneida Nation’s strategic initiatives and drive awareness, understanding and action in support of the Nation’s mission and public image.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.    Assist in media outreach and development of public relation strategies.  
2.    Support a robust social media strategy across all platforms. 
3.    Research and draft public facing materials including press releases, talking points, fact sheets, media lists and social media content. 
4.    Engage with existing audiences, as well as targeting and engaging new audiences
5.    Identify and develop ongoing relationships with key influencers
6.    Create/maintain media and social media lists
7.    Draft pitch materials, and work to sustain media relations with reporters.
8.    Consistently monitor local, regional and national developments that are pertinent to the interests of the Oneida Indian Nation and its enterprises.
9.    Assists in coordinating publicity and news coverage for issues and events related to the Oneida Indian Nation, Turning Stone, and other Nation enterprises. 
10.    Manages logistics and event coordination for activities pertaining to initiatives and special projects.
11.    Creates and maintains media lists and researches new media outlets relevant to current and future projects.
12.    Assists with the creation, execution and monitoring of engaging social media content and campaigns surrounding issues and events related to the Oneida Nation, Turning Stone, and other Nation enterprises. 
13.    Adapts communication style to the project goals and audience.
14.    Conducts research for content ideas and compiles competitive analysis
15.    Works collaboratively with departments across the organization to maximize the impact of strategic initiatives.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

1.    Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations required. 
2.    Must have strong knowledge of digital marketing and digital metrics. 
3.    Must have strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
4.    Must be proactive and have the ability to work independently. 
5.    Excellent time management skills with ability to handle multiple assignments efficiently are required.
6.    Must possess an interest in politics and advocacy.
