Retail Sales Associate

Job Description

  • Greets and initiates conversation with customers as they enter the store. Maintains a visible presence and contact with all customers.
  • Demonstrates a pro-active attitude in a consistent effort to sell.
  • Consistently stocks and merchandises product to ensure store is appropriately merchandised at all times.
  • Receives stock verifying that quantities of items received match amount listed on transfer.
  • Displays an in depth knowledge of all merchandise displayed in the store, and stays informed regarding Casino events and visiting patron groups.
  • Continually follows flow of stock and notifies supervisor of high and low stock levels.
  • Always counts monies at beginning of shift to ensure that change fund balance is correct and accounted for.
  • Always unlocks and opens cash register and signs on cash register with assigned ID ensuring that data (date, time, sales levels, etc.) are accurate and properly recorded.
  • Ensures register is closed out at shift end. Always prepares monies for bank deposit and ensures Cage drop slip is accurately completed per department procedures.
  • Accepts items from customers for purchase while efficiently moving pre-coded items across scanner for tabulation and accurately depressing the appropriate keys to tabulate the value of uncoded items. Uses the appropriate procedures to resolve any issues with items not properly coded.
  • Accepts valid coupons from customers and credits the value to the sale while obtaining the sales total. Collects monies from customers and always accurately refunds the correct change.
  • Always ensures appropriate stickers are placed on bags containing paid for items.
  • Continually reconciles cash register tape against monies and coupons received. Accurately completes daily sheet and corrects all voids/errors as they occur while following appropriate procedures via Cashier’s Training Manuel to include discounts, damages, returns, special orders, store to store transfers, repairs, etc.. 14. Monitors individual pack displays and other products sold at the checkout counter and restocks inventory as necessary.
  • Straightens, dusts and tidies store and displays as needed to maintain a neat appearance.
  • Is always available to perform other related tasks as needed (cleaning the store area or stock room, stocking the display shelves, counting inventory, assisting with break schedule, receiving/ordering, monitors stock levels etc.)
  • Consistently keeps Supervisor informed of any irregularities/concerns that do not follow approved procedures.
  • Makes sure store has appropriate levels of supplies, such as bags, register tape, paperwork photocopies, and gift wrap.

Job Requirements

  • Previous cashiering experience preferred.
  • Minimum High School diploma required.
  • Previous Sales experience preferred.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must possess outstanding guest service skills.
  • Previous money handling experience with basic math skills required.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  •  Ability to make decisions in a stressful environment and accommodate a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds for restocking purposes.
