Associate System Engineer

Job Description

Summary: Under the guidance of the System Engineering Manager and Senior System Engineers, the Associate System Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Effectively engineers all system hardware, operating systems and software to deliver state of the art solutions for business needs.
Designs and deploys systems within a strict timeline. Works closely with other teams within IT to deliver reliable and stable systems.
Provides technical evaluation and guidance on new systems, designs, and technologies for the organization.
Provides 3^rd level technical support for all Help Desk calls escalated to group in compliance with Service Level Agreements.
Develops documentation and instructions for all members of the IT staff to ensure effective use of the systems.
Collaborates with all groups within IT to ensure the timely delivery of a sound infrastructure.
Evaluates systems configurations and ensures currency of all operating systems, revision levels, and hardware to meet business needs.
Monitors, analyzes, and maintains all hardware and software infrastructure as required.
Gauges the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develops and implements strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Perform System Engineering tasks from system design models, specifications, and diagrams to align with corporate visions and strategies.
Works with IT Leadership to define business requirements and systems goals; and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
Ensures compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
Coordinates and performs in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
Monitors and tests system performance. Prepares and delivers system performance statistics and reports.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least two years of related work experience. At least three years of experience in Casino, Hospitality and/or Entertainment industries; or other high volume, complex, and demanding customer oriented IT environments may be substituted for education.
Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator (MCITP), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and/or, other related technical certification desirable.
Experienced in Active Directory 2008/2012
Knowledge of Microsoft Cluster Environment, HA, System Redundancy
Experience with system performance tuning.
Must be an expert in troubleshooting technology issues.
Must have security experience, including PCI, HIPPA and SOX experience.
Demonstrated experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products in an enterprise environment.
Must have proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
Must have working technical knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards.
Must have experience with core software applications; including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, and other collaboration software.
Must have support experience with enterprise server & storage hardware (e.g., IBM, HP SAN/NAS).
Must have working technical knowledge of ISA, IIS, FTP, Tivoli Archive & Backup, Anti-Virus/Spam protection (Sophos, Barracuda E-Mail filter), Imaging (WDS, MDT)
Must have working knowledge of network and PC operating systems; hands on in-depth knowledge of MS Windows Server 2008-2016, Linux, GPO, Active Directory and VMWare.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
