Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for providing excellent service to Maple Leaf Market customers while operating the Point-of-Sale system, preparing and serving food, and maintaining the cleanliness of the store and property. 
  • Ensures a pleasant shopping experience for all guests by promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, greeting all guests upon arrival and treating all guests as the top priority.
  • Thanks all guests at the completion of each transaction.
  • Operates Point-of-Sale system, accepts payments from guests, issues correct change and properly bags purchases.
  • Assists with maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the property and store including mopping floors, cleaning counters and restrooms, sweeping the store front and taking garbage out to dumpsters.
  • Prepares, serves and stores food while adhering to proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the starting bank, makes up the ending bank and prepares bank deposits.
  • Corrects all voids and errors as they occur.
  • Reconciles cash register tills against money and coupons received.
  • Accurately processes coupons, ensures validity of coupons received, credits the appropriate value and maintains tally sheet.
  • Stocks and re-stocks shelves and counter displays.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of store merchandise. Periodically assists in counting inventory.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills.  High School Diploma or Equivalency preferred.
  • High energy and enthusiasm are a must.
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and positive manner with guests, suppliers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and to count money.
  • Ability to recognize discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action.

    Position Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach above the shoulder.
  • Repetitive use of the hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and/or typing i.e. keyboard, ten-key.
  • Must have the ability to constantly lift up to 20 lbs. using proper lifting techniques. Sometimes up to 50 lbs.
