Assistant Pastry Chef

Job Description

Assistant Pastry Chef will work alongside the Executive Pastry Chef and Pastry Chefs, creating dessert menus for 20 food outlets, including our Forbes 4 Star property The Lodge, Resort catering events, weddings, Maple Leaf convenience stores, and three Opals Confectionary retail outlets as well as two satellite locations. Serving up a tempting assortment of baked goods, cakes, cookies and rich confections to satisfy our guest’s sweet tooth.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintains working knowledge of kitchen operation’s internal policies/procedures and takes the initiative to convey pertinent information to employees regarding policy changes.
  • Ensures efficiency and accurate performance standards are met by maintaining communication with all work areas to verify paperwork and inventory controls.
  • Demonstrates outstanding guest service skills and always identifies internal customers.
  • Takes responsibility for making sure employees are trained/developed in kitchen/bakery operations.
  • Maintains constant awareness of all events and related functions scheduled for the Resort.

Job Requirements

Ideal candidate must have 2 years pastry/bakery supervisory experience, Associates Degree in Culinary or Pastry preferred.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
