Banquet Set-up Captain - Turning Stone

Job Description

The Banquet Set Up Captain is responsible for leading all banquet set up staff during function set- up / change services and audio visual needs, as well as working closely with the Banquet Captain in maintaining meeting/ function rooms and organizing of the storage rooms.  The right candidate will have the ability to understand and follow Banquet Event Orders.

  • Attempts to control food costs; throw away, etc.
  • Always coordinates with meeting planners and convention officials prior to event to ensure requirements are being met.
  • Always holds pre-function meetings to ensure that all employees have pertinent information and station assignments.
  • Effectively supervises the activities of all Banquet Food Servers and Bartenders in the function rooms during assigned shift, ensuring all functional job duties are performed according to established departmental policy/procedure.
  • Continually trains new employees in all F&B standards & procedures and ensures that all employees continually apply training techniques.
  • Continually monitors banquet function(s) as assigned and informs Supervisor/Manager of any problems that need to be addressed.
  • Continually demonstrates the ability to effectively address employee complaints.
  • Accurately completes and signs for all stock requisitions.
  • Continually works with all kitchen staff to ensure that food items are appropriately cooked and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Always demonstrates the ability to properly resolve guest complaints or refers the concern to the Banquet Supervisor/Manager.
  • Promptly retrieves drawer from cage area when required and ensures that the drawer is accurate. Always ensures that all items are in the drawer; bags are properly labeled and shift end cash is accurately counted.
  • Always demonstrates outstanding guest service while accurately and effectively tendering banquet check. Ensures that all banquet checks are settled at the end of each function and entered into the POS System and brought to the Cage at shift end.
  • Attends BEO meeting in the absence of the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Continually ensures that all rented linen is properly bagged and shipped back, all in house linen is placed in proper bins to be washed.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to speak English.
  • Must possess the ability to count money and make correct change.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to ring in orders and settle checks on Point of Sale system.
  • Previous Food & Beverage server experience a plus.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
