Customer Service Associate - SavOn Canastota

Job Description

  • Ensures a pleasant shopping experience for all customers by promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, greeting all guests upon arrival and treating all guests as the top priority.
  • Operates Point-of-Sale system, accepts payments from guests, issues correct change and properly bags purchases.
  • Assists with maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the property and store including mopping floors, cleaning counters, sweeping the store front and taking garbage out to dumpsters.
  • Prepares, serves and stores food while adhering to proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the starting bank, makes up the ending bank and prepares bank deposits.
  • Corrects all voids and errors as they occur.
  • Reconciles cash register tills against money and coupons received.
  • Accurately processes coupons, ensures validity of coupons received, credits the appropriate value and maintains a tally sheet.
  • Stocks and re-stocks shelves and counter displays.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of store merchandise
  • Periodically assists in counting inventory.
  • Limits underage access to age restricted areas.  Follows all age verification procedures for alcohol/cigarette purchases and gaming activity.  Instructs guests in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of slot machine games and accurately instructs guests on their operation, and on any available gaming incentives or promotions.  Works collaboratively with Turning Stone staff to include gaming, technical, TS Rewards, and Cage staff to ensure accurate and efficient gaming operations within the store.
  • Follows all internal cash handling controls, including maintaining separation of retail and gaming funds.  Follows appropriate procedures for internal fund transfers.
  • Adheres to internal controls and procedures for all slot ticket redemptions, jackpots, bank reconciliations, and drops.  Contacts the Turning Stone Cage Shift Manager on duty for any slot payment, or bank issues and discrepancies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must have excellent customer service skills. 
  • High energy and enthusiasm are a must.
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate in a friendly and positive manner with guests, suppliers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and to count money is required.
  • Ability to recognize discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action is required.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must have close visual acuity for the purpose of viewing and operating the POS system. 
  • Must have acute speech and hearing for frequent and extensive inter-personal communications with customers.
  • Position requires medium physical work – exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Position requires physical activities: standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping and feeling.
  • Subject to certain hazards associated with food service such as high heat from ovens and sharp utensils.
  • This position is primarily subject to indoor environmental conditions with some exposure to outside environmental conditions.
  • Proper protective clothing, including non-slip shoes, is required.
